photo diary from butterfly valley
a picture is worth a thousand words, making this my longest essay
the valley
the first picture that I took in Türkiye! the only way in and out of the valley is by ferry. Jordan and I had to take our shoes off and hold all of our bags over the water to toss them in the boat! what a way to begin
the valley was so stunning. bright blue and refreshing (albeit sometimes freezing). always matching the sky, and offset by the massive cliffs on either side of the cove.
the view from the rock bar, from promotional photos I did for the valley.
the apricot trees that I mentioned in my previous blogs about the valley!
aaaand the mulberry tree.
some pretty flowers.
i believe that this is a giant peacock moth, but I can’t be too sure. what I do know for sure though is that it is apart of the Saturnia genus of the large silkmoth family.
paragliding
as you can see, the sky is filled with paragliders in oludeniz, some even landing on the beaches in butterfly valley!
me paragliding!!! I didn’t think I would do it, but it was so fun #noregrets
the friends
left to right: abby (me), Callista (Australia), Rodrigo (Brazil), Brandon (Costa Rica), Sophia (Germany), and Jordan (USA)
at butterfly valley’s waterfall!!
Jordan’s chess pieces got stolen in Morocco, so here he is drawing new pieces out of stones collected from the beach of butterfly valley
this cat always snuck into our tent if we left it open so it could air out during the day. here he is waiting for me to open the tent again.
this night was crazy. it is Türkiye’s youth day, also their independence day. so we walked around with torches that one of the volunteers, Rodrigo had spent weeks making, and marched across the beach. I guess from America it seems kind of weird because we don’t have this kind of national pride, but it was really nice to see how much people care about their country!
LOVE the new chess pieces - far more magic! Creativeness born of suckiness. Way to go, Jordan. XX00 Stella & Lucille
Just awesome! Home made chess pieces, so cool! J&J will enjoy a game with those when we are next together xxx
